Proprietor and Senior Chef Justin Monson has certainly raised the standard in San Clemente's dining scene. Vine restaurant features wine country cuisine indicative of the Napa region, as well as other wine producing regions. With over 100 bottles of wine to choose from, Vine is in a class of it's own with a seasonal menu that features such items as crispy duck confit salad or zinfandel braised lamb shank.
Perhaps one of the most glorious virtues of Vine is its weekly wine tasting and pairing. On Wednesday evenings starting at 7pm, Justin guides food and wine lovers through a 4-course meal that is quite the experience for either the novice or connoisseur. A carefully planned pairing which includes both white and red wines, Justin speaks to all levels of wine fans as he casually and delightfully exposes you to his wonderfully creative cuisine. Food portions are 'tapas-style' and yes, you will leave very satisfied.
It's a wonder that this Culinary Institute (CIA) chef who was a Saucier in Napa Valley hasn't planted his roots in a larger metropolitan city such as New York or San Francisco to really vindicate his talents.
